Baring Court Carol Singing
Our KS2 choir always thoroughly enjoy going to Baring Court to perform a range of songs for the residents and this year was no different. The children sang a selection of songs; traditional Christmas songs combined with songs from our recent Christingle service and the KS2 Christmas production. The residents were thrilled and following the performance the children enjoyed some juice and sweets. Staff at the school said it was a pleasure to go and sing in the community and a great experience for the children.

‘Captain Christmas’ – KS2 performance
The KS2 performed their Christmas production ( Captian Christmas) on Wednesday 14 December to a packed hall. There was singing, dancing and laughter throughout the afternoon and even a special performance by some “Strictly Come Dancing” judges whose performance of Gang Nam Style was one not to be missed. The children should all be very proud of themselves. The whole of KS2 took part and this included a speaking part for every child, as well as learning, songs and dance routines from a group of rats and monkeys.
It was an amazing afternoon enjoyed by all, staff, parents, visitors and of course the children.

Our Christmas Celebrations Assembly was held on Thursday 15th December.
Well done to the many children who received their behaviour certificate during the assembly.
The children from KS1 and EYFS performed ‘Ring out those bells’ from their Nativity, ‘Baubles’, and the children form KS2 performed ‘Rich, Rich, Rich’ from their Christmas performance, ‘Captain Christmas’. The whole school also sang their favourite songs from our Christingle service.
Thank you to the many family members and friends who came along to the assembly.

On the final day of Autumn Term, children from Nursery, Reception and Key Stage One had an exciting trip out. They went to Locomotion at Shildon for a Christmas visit.
The children took part in three different activities throughout the morning: making a christmas cracker card and decoration, christmas storytelling and, of course, a visit to see Santa in his grotto.

‘Baubles’ – EYFS and KS1 Nativity
What a fantastic performance of ‘Baubles’!
The EYFS and KS1 children put on a brilliant performance of ‘Baubles’ for families and friends on Tuesday 6th December.
The story of the play is set in a school, not so very different to ours, where children are getting very excited about Christmas and thinking about what Santa might bring them for Christmas. However, the children are so busy making lists that they forget to decorate the Christmas tree that stands neglected in the corner of the school hall. Mr Potts, the school caretaker, is very sad about this and he decides to make baubles for the tree that tell the true story of Christmas. By the end of the performance, the children know the true meaning of Christmas.
The children thoroughly enjoyed every second of rehearsals and singing practices.
Thank you to parents, carers, families and friends who helped the children to learn their lines for the nativity. We really do appreciate your support.

Once again, we collected shoeboxes for ‘Operation Christmas Child’. This is a project which is run yearly by the Samaritan’s Purse to provide Christmas presents to children around the world.
The Samaritan’s Purse state that ‘A small shoebox can have a big impact. What goes into the box is fun, but what comes out of it is eternal.’ We would like to say a big thank you to the parents and staff who supported this extremely worthwhile project.
Well done to our Headteacher’s Assistants who organised the shoeboxes when they arrived in school.
Christingle Service
On Friday 2nd December, our whole school went to St Philip’s and St James’ Church in Tow Law for our annual Christingle Service.
As always, the service was an excellent way to start our Christmas festivities.
Many thanks to the volunteers who came into school on the morning and made the Christingles for the children to hold during the service.
[Slideshow "christingle-service" not found]We also collected Christingle candles in school to raise money for the Children’s Society. Thank you to everyone who supported this.
