Groups have been held throughout the summer term including Relax Kids to help children deal with stressful times in their lives (including exams!) through meditation and relaxation. Theraputic Story Writing has also taken place which encourages children to feel comfortable in writing within time constraints as well as having fun at the same time (biscuits and drinks help).
For adults we have held Eat Wise Drop A Dress Size where some have lost quite a bit weight without spending money doing it like other diet groups. A new course run by the NHS in our school beginning in the middle of September will be Colour Me Calm where adults will focus on how to feel better and less anxious and get to colour in at the same time.
Family activities have been held over the summer holidays in the community centre where we catered for lunch and breaks with delicious meals which included a picnic complete with ice creams, a pizza day, homemade burgers and wedges and a bbq as well as homemade buns to ice and smoothies. Jenny Mountain secured the services of Durham Cathedral Outreach Team who showed us how to practise medieval dance, wear their costumes, do quizzes and play medieval games as well as making gargoyles and screen printing.
Keep an eye out for activities which will be run over October holidays which will include pumpkin making and apple dunking.
